Fun allotment

Overheard this weekend at the mall: Exasperated mom to rambunctious child, “If this is your fun now, there’s no fun later when you get home!”

The thought stopped me in my tracks – what if that’s true? What if there’s a limited amount of fun, and that once you use it up there’s no more fun? What if you had a blast whooping it up when you were younger? Are you doomed to a life of dullness forever more?

It’s an insidious notion. That child will probably be hoarding his fun for the rest of his life wondering when he’s going to run out. I’m going to go on the assumption we all have different fun allotments (and that the Mom must have used up all of hers early) or that fun is rechargeable (“sustainable fun”) somehow.

No sense letting good fun go to waste.

I’m going with the idea that you can create your own fun, thus there could potentially be infinite amounts of fun!

“Twitter”ing is pretty fun… except that no one is “follwoing” me so the fun is limited… If I could get people to “follow” me on Twitter, I could create some fun, thereby adding credibility to my unlimited fun theory stated above!

    Do you Twitter? EGeek?

I suspect that this subject may be too silly for others to respond too… But not me! I’m trying to make me some fun!!!

Hey, can I drop an image in to replace the grey and white pawn icon that generically represents responders? That would also add to my fun!

TLG…this is definitely not a silly subject at all! It’s rather very serious and deep! I only wish I had checked my blog (which is how I know EGeek’s site has been updated with something new) earlier so I could chime in!

I’ve actually been thinking about a similar subject recently, I guess w/ my 20th reunion last month and all. I was thinking about all the fun (and sometimes stupid) things I did in my younger days. I still have fun now, but not the same kind of fun. And having a real job these days kind of cramps my style in the fun department since I can’t stay up until the wee hours anymore.

After reading EGeek’s thoughts, I’ve determined that by that mom’s standards, I’ve probably exceeded my lifetime fun quota. So basically, right now I’m living on borrowed fun. And in a couple of weeks I’m going to be in Walt Disney World having a TON of fun. Do you think I am going to be stuck in some kind of fun purgatory? If that’s the case, I’m all for it!

Kendra, I think I’ve also had more than my share of fun… However, it’s not wrong to horde fun or have more fun than ever thought humanly possible. If having fun is wrong, then I don’t want to be right. WDW does indeed sound like a ton of fun.
